Quiksilver Inc., California, USA
Quiksilver Inc. is an Australian company based in Huntington Beach, California, and it is one of the world's largest manufacturers of surf wear and other board sport related equipment. The company also produces a line of apparel for young women under the brands DC Shoes and Roxy. In 2010, FabricAir was approached by Adam Helliwell, Sales Engineer for Norman S. Wright / Airelink, Anaheim, California.
Mr. Helliwell had been approached by John Chandler, PPC Air Conditioning Inc, Cypress, California, with an unusual request. Kevin M. Friedman, CEO, Engineering-Design-Analysis, Inc., Tustin, California, was working with Quicksilver Inc., on its new Corporate Headquarters in Huntington Beach, California. Quicksilver had requested an “out of the box” design for its new HQ and was looking for suggestions. EDA forwarded Quicksilver’s request to Mr. Chandler at PPC, who forwarded the request to Mr. Helliwell, who recommend fabric ducting. EDA was familiar with the fabric duct concept but had not considered it for this project. EDA requested a proposal from NSW on a concept design for a fabric duct system. Mr. Helliwell contacted FabricAir with this request and a preliminary design was created. This design went through a number of modifications but, ultimately, a design was approved and eventually installed. The attached photos are a fine example of what “thinking out of the box” can generate utilising FabricAir, fabric duct systems.
